i am not big on resolutions but for some reason this year i wanted to challenge myself to take one photograph a day. i don’t want to stress over technical aspects, i just want to create/capture my everyday life. i am using my ‘travel camera’ a panasonic lumix with a leica lens. i don’t recommend it. i have been using it to shoot raw in manual mode + this thing is not very intuitive. maybe i am just an old dog who can’t learn new tricks but i feel using it will make me appreciate my symbiotic relationship with my trusty nikon system. + possibly make me hone in more on content + composition. so here is my first week of 2021 in a pic a day
a ways back…a friend reached out to me to help give them some imagery for an upcoming album they were about to release. it was a vague concept with descriptive words such as bright/green/kind of hazy…so with carte blanche this is what i came up with. if you want to check out the tunes that go with this type of jello kryptonite imagery click here
2020 has been an unprecedent year for all of us. all of my booked weddings were put on hold, rescheduled for less contagious days. while I was still fortunate to be able to 2nd shoot weddings for 2 of my favorite local photographers, lisa of lisa frechette photography[thank you for letting me share some of your wedding images below] + mia of mia campopiano photography, I am absolutely longing to photograph my own weddings again [fingers crossed 2021].
thankfully my year was filled with personal art projects at thecollaborative02885 as well as so many lovely family portrait sessions. oh, you special lovely families, the most enjoyable time I have had masked has been photographing you! thank you thank you thank you!
I even did some pivoting [is this the most hated word of 2020?] with some real estate, restaurant + product photography in order to keep my creative brain working + to try + stay off unemployment.
a huge highlight from this year was the time I spent volunteering at moonrose farm through their csa work share program. while I only have my crappy phone photos [not shared here] from my time there, the memories + life lessons I learned there will never fade:
shop local. support your farmers. be kind. when in doubt get your hands dirty. you can actually eat hard work [that is if you are a farmer or gardener]. we are all connected. tomato hornworms are fascinating + gross.
so without anymore rambling here is my 2020 in pictures:
you’ve made it to the end! thank you for taking the time to look at these images + happy new year!
I have decided to extend my 2020 portrait session special to 2021 because why not + I think we all deserve it.
